A manor-style resort overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay and the town of St. Andrews. The Algonquin is 70 miles from Saint John Airport and 150 miles to the railway. It was the 1991 Canadian Travel and Tourism "Resort of the Year". A picturesque seaside resort, the Algonquin is recognized as the leading resort in all of Atlantic Canada. It features pleasant surroundings and magnificent sea views. The new wing opened in June of 1993. These rooms only, have air-conditioning. The main hotel is not air conditioned: however, all rooms have fully operational windows and ceiling fans.

Directions

From Saint John airport to the Algonquin... Driving Directions: Take HWY #1 from airport, 50 miles to St. Andrews exit, take HWY #127. Follow 127 to town, turn left on Reed Ave, another left onto Harriet Street, and then turn right on Prince of Wales Street.

Driving Directions: From Airport take Route 3 to JCT. HWY #127. Follow 127 to town, turn left on Reed Ave, left onto Harriet Street, and then turn right on Prince of Wales.

Take HWY 1 WEST 60 miles to HWY 127 South. Take HWY 127 South for 10 miles into the town of St Andrews. HWY 127 ends on Reed Avenue. Turn RIGHT on Reed Avenue. Take Reed past hotel golf course. Turn LEFT at the first intersection onto Harriet Street. Follow for 2 blocks then turn RIGHT onto Prince of Wales Street. Hotel will be on your RIGHT.

St. Andrews is just a thirty minute drive from the border crossing between Calais, Maine and St. Stephen, New Brunswick. From Route 1 between St. Stephen and Saint John, take either of the clearly marked exits onto Route 127. Access Route 9 from Bangor, Maine or route 1 from Bar Harbour, Maine to Calais, Maine. Cross International Border onto St Stephen, NB and take HWY 1 EAST to HWY 127 SOUTH. Follow HWY 127 into the town of St Andrews. Take Reed Avenue past hotel golf course. Turn LEFT at the first intersection onto Harriet Street. Follow 2 blocks then turn RIGHT onto Prince of Wales Street. Hotel will be on your RIGHT hand side.

MINISTER'S ISLAND

Guest can walk or drive across the ocean floor at low tide on the natural sand bar that crosses to the Island. Their you will find the summer residence of Sir William Van Horne which is a huge mansion with: 50 rooms 17 bathrooms amazing dining room large Billiards room bath house barns wind mills, etc. There is a swimming pool that he built himself which is located at the shore of his mansion. On high tide, the water fills up the pool and then on low tide it warms up the water in the pool by the hot summer sun. This tour is located approximately 5 to 10 minutes from the Algonquin. It's about a 2 hour tour Here are some restrictions for the island: No smoking No pets No food or beverage No access to the Island without the tour

ROSS MUSEUM

The museum is close enough to walk or bicycle being only a half mile from the hotel. Exit the hotel and take Prince of Wales to King Street. Turn Right on King and go three (3) blocks to Montague. Museum on corner of King and Montague.

TOWN WHARF

The wharf is close enough to walk or bicycle being only 1 mile from the hotel. Exit the hotel and take Prince of Wales to King Street. Turn right on King and follow to end. Wharf is an extension of King Street, and the location of our Day Adventure operators. Many nice shops and boutiques along main street/wharf area.
